Global term

Digital nomad

A location-independent worker who uses remote work to live and work from different countries, cities or time zones.

The digital nomad lifestyle became mainstream after 2020 when remote work normalised globally. It ranges from professionals working abroad for a few months a year to people who move continuously between countries. The main practical challenges are tax residency (you need to understand the rules in each country you spend significant time in), health insurance, banking across borders and reliable internet. For income purposes, digital nomads often find their earning power increases sharply when they price in GBP, USD or EUR while living in lower cost-of-living countries. Hustle Report's salary benchmarks help nomads understand what their role commands globally so they can choose clients and contracts that reflect international rates.
